FMU Athletics sponsors trick shot competition

By displaying their basketball trick shot skills on social media, FMU students have a chance to win free Big Macs for a year.

To enter, students should post a video of themselves doing basketball trick shots to either Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, use the hashtag #wegoallout, make their video public and tag @fmusports in their post.

The contest will begin on Feb. 1 and end on Feb. 19. The winner will be announced at the FMU men’s basketball senior night game starting at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 in the Smith University Center gym. The winner must be present in order to receive their coupons.

Joseph Elledge, FMU Athletics marketing intern, said that the athletic department wanted to come up with a creative way to give away the Big Mac coupons given to them by their McDonald’s sponsor.

“We really wanted to build up senior night and honor our seniors,” Elledge said. “We also wanted to give students a chance to showcase their basketball skills.”

FMU Athletics and McDonald’s of Florence are sponsoring the event. The winner will be able to redeem their coupons at the McDonalds across the street from campus and the McDonald’s near exit 170 on Interstate 95.

The three FMU Athletics interns will review the trick shot videos and collectively determine the winner.
