We ask that anyone having information about any crimes committed on campus call 661-1109. You don’t need to tell us who you are; just tell us what you know. You can provide your information anonymously through our “Silent Witness” page at on the campus police web site (http://www.fmarion.edu/about/police ). In the past, “Silent Witness” reports have provided leads on cases under investigation. Thanks to those community members concerned with keeping FMU safe and secure. Please be our eyes and ears out there…. We need you to help us to help you.
For the period 07-10-12 through 08-15-12 the following incidents were reported to and/or investigated by Campus Police:
A report of Damage to State Property at the Heyward Community Center. An entrance door and trash can were damaged.
A report of Recovered Stolen Property. The Victim reported a car stolen. Investigation revealed the car was not taken.
A report of Lost Property at the Housing Office. The Victim reported a package lost in transit.
A report of Theft from a Building at the Leatherman Science Facility. A laptop computer was reported taken from a closet.
A report of Damage to State Property at the Smith University Center. A university vehicle was damaged when another university vehicle backed into it. Referred to Facilities Management.
A report of Damage to Personal Property in Parking Lot “G”. The Victim reported their vehicle damaged while parked.
A report of Damage to State Property at the Griffin Athletics Complex. A university vehicle backed into a light pole. Referred to Facilities Management.
A report of Theft from a Building at the Ervin Dining Hall. A subject was caught removing property from building. One non-student issued a trespass notice.
A report of Damage to State Property at the Village Apartments. A contractor employee damaged an apartment window. Referred to Facilities Management.
A report of Possession of Property of Another near the Fine Arts Center. A Subject had a Dollar General Cart. One student referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Possession of Beer under 21 in Parking Lot “K” at the Griffin Athletics Complex. Two students jailed and referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Theft from a Motor Vehicle at the Griffin Athletics Complex. The Victim reported property taken from an unsecured vehicle.
A report of Driving under Suspension and Trespass Notice Issued on Alumni Drive. Two non-students issued Trespass Notices and one of two was issued a State Ticket.
A report of Other Conduct Code Violation. One non-student issued a trespass notice.
A report of a Fire Response – False Alarm at Swamp Fox Hall. A faulty smoke detector set off alarm.
A report of No South Carolina Driver’s License and Reckless Driving on Francis Marion Road. One non-student issued State Tickets.
A report of a Verbal Altercation at the Village Apartments. Referred to Facilities Maintenance.
Campus Police officers responded to five (05) requests for Medical Assistance during this period.
FOUND PROPERTY: FMUPD currently has numerous items that were left unattended or found on campus. If you are missing an item of property and can provide identifying information for your missing property, contact Lt. Ken Pittman at 843-661-1117.
