We ask that anyone having information about any crimes committed on campus call 661-1109. You don’t need to tell us who you are; just tell us what you know. You can provide your information anonymously through our “Silent Witness” page at on the campus police web site (http://www.fmarion.edu/about/police ). In the past, “Silent Witness” reports have provided leads on cases under investigation. Thanks to those community members concerned with keeping FMU safe and secure. Please be our eyes and ears out there…. We need you to help us to help you.
For the period 01-10-13 through 01-23-13 the following incidents were reported to and/or investigated by Campus Police:
A report of Trespass after Notice in Parking Lot “A”. One non-student jailed.
A report of Damage to Personal Property in Parking Lot “F”. A driver reported hitting a trailer hitch on another car while parked. Report filed.
A report of Hit and Run Property Damage in Parking Lot “C”. A driver reported their car was damaged while parked.
A report of a non-student Missing Person from Off Campus. The individual was found at the University Center and returned to her family.
A report of Unauthorized use of Facilities at the Griffin Athletics Complex. One student referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Violation of FMU Policy in Parking Lot “G”. Several non-students were found in the parking lot; one had a FMU ID card in his possession. The resident student sponsor only vouched for one as his guest. The others were escorted from campus. One student referred to Student Affairs for the ID issue.
A repot of Possession of Beer by a Minor on the old Soccer Field near the University Center. Five students referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Driving under Suspension on Wallace Woods Road. One non-student issued a state citation and the vehicle was removed by another licensed driver.
A report of Vandalism to Property, a student reported their car damaged while parked in Parking Lot “G”. One student referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Failure to Comply with Directions of a University Official at the University Center. A student refused to present their FMU ID card when required. One student referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Theft from a Building in Snow Isle Hall. A student came to another student’s room and removed some personal property. The property was recovered and two students were referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Vandalism to Property in Parking Lot “F”. A student reported their vehicle was “keyed” while parked.
A report of Simple Possession of Marijuana and Fraudulent Decal on The Cottage Road. One student issued a state citation and referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Possession of Marijuana on Wallace Woods Road. One non-student issued a state citation, a trespass warning and escorted from campus.
A report of Failure to Comply with Directions of a University Official and Conduct that Threatens Health/Safety at the Ervin Dining Hall. Several persons became involved in a verbal confrontation. Three students referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Conduct that Threatens Health/Safety in Swamp Fox Hall. Two students became embroiled in a verbal confrontation over alleged electronic messages. One student referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Possession of Marijuana in Beaty Hall. During routine fire extinguisher inspection students were found in possession of marijuana. Three students jailed and referred to Student Affairs.
A report of a Weapons Law Violation on Wallace Woods Road. During a traffic stop a non-student was found in possession of a pistol. The non-student was jailed and issued a trespass warning.
A report of Possession of Marijuana on Alumni Drive. During a traffic stop a non-student was found in possession of several small bags of marijuana. The non-student was jailed and issued a trespass warning.
A report of Alleged Marijuana Use in Marion State Hall. An anonymous call led officers to check an apartment. The resident reported that the marijuana aroma was from some guests who had departed. No evidence of use found. One student referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Possession of Alcohol under 21, FMU Policy Violation and Alleged Possession of Marijuana in Palmetto Hall. Officers responded to the odor of marijuana and discovered alcohol and marijuana paraphernalia. Three students referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Trespass of Real Property. A non-student who was previously barred from housing was found on main campus. The non-student was issued a trespass warning and escorted from campus.
A report of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in Cusac Hall. Officers responded to a report of marijuana use and discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia. One student claimed the contraband and was jailed. Two students referred to Student Affairs.
Campus Police officers responded to two (2) requests for Medical Assistance during this period.
