A “Student Social,” hosted by a committee made up of FMU’s biology, environmental science and environmental studies degree programs, is scheduled to happen tomorrow from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Leatherman Science Facility (LSF) facing the University Center.
The event will feature prominent members and advisors from multiple student organizations such as Beta Beta Beta, the biology honors society also known as “Tri-Beta,” pre-med club, pre-vet club, biology club and environmental science and studies club. Announcements are scheduled to be held at 12:30 p.m., where each group will speak about their organizations and professors will have the chance to discuss current research projects. A raffle, with prizes valued between $5 and $90, will also be conducted at 1:00 p.m. alongside an “ice cream bar” feature. Students wanting to participate in the raffle are required to visit the “walk-up tables” set up from 9:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., located beside the “Turtle tank” on the second floor of the LSF, to purchase their ticket, limited to one per student.
“The social actually used to be an annual thing back a few years ago, and I’m hoping it’ll be a super rad event so we can revive the tradition,” said Brycelyn Berry, environmental science major and president of both the biology and environmental science and studies clubs.
As the semester begins to start putting students to work, a vast ocean of opportunities await those who are willing to seek them out. For more information regarding the upcoming social event, please contact Associate Professor of Biology, Dr. Paul Zwiers, with further questions.
