Dr. Carter welcomes students to new semester
August 21, 2011
Dear Students,
On behalf of the faculty and staff, I want to welcome you back to FMU for the fall semester. I hope that all of you had an enjoyable, relaxing, and refreshing summer break.
For more than 40 years, this university has delivered quality programs to thousands of women and men from around the state and across the nation. This is a very challenging academic environment, one enriched by dedicated faculty who excel in their disciplines and fields. They are accomplished scholars, administrators, entrepreneurs, writers, artists and scientists. Most important, they are here to help each of you achieve your educational objectives.
We will celebrate the grand opening of our $34.5 million Performing Arts Center in downtown Florence in September. Throughout this fall, construction will continue on a new $11.1 million athletic campus across Francis Marion Road. Both of these projects are intended to enhance the scope and number of activities and events that are available to you as a student at FMU. Of course, they are also a part of keeping our campus a viable place to live, work, study and play.
Take full advantage of the many opportunities to get involved with campus activities. Your participation in campus life will enhance your overall experience at Francis Marion.
I wish you the very best this semester and as always, if you need help in any way, please call, email or drop by to see me.
Sincerely,
Luther F. Carter
President
