Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi) is looking for participants for their annual “ADPi Idol” event to be held on Tuesday, April 9.
Students can sign up in the Smith University Center (UC) on March 27 and 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
ADPi adviser Lisa Knell explained they are looking for participants with the gift to perform.
“It’s not necessarily an audition.” Knell said. “It’s more of a sign up for participants.”
There is a $10 fee for participants to enter into the competition. First and second place winners will be awarded cash prizes and all participants will receive a t-shirt.
Senior nursing major and ADPi Philanthropy Chair, Danielle Schmalfedlt, said the proceeds from the event will go to the Ronald McDonald House; a charity that finds housing for families who have sick children receiving medical treatment away from their home.
“We try to go to the Ronald McDonald House about three times a semester,” Schmalfedlt said.
The Ronald McDonald House collects aluminum recycling as a way to raise money for their charities.
The cost for the ADPi Idol will be $5, but if attendees bring aluminum can tabs to donate, the cost will only be $3.
Last year, ADPi raised about $2,000 for the charity. They hope to raise as much, if not more money, this year.
