CUT TIME, the Francis Marion University (FMU) show choir is opening auditions to students. The cut-time choir consists of between ten to 12 students who perform numbers on campus and off campus at a variety of events. The choir prepares a show to be performed at the end of every semester. The performances are generally theme-related. The theme for this semester is “Music of the 50’s.” The performance will include numbers like The Great Pretender, A Teenager in Love, Rock Around the Clock, Lollipop, You’ve Got the Magic Touch, Chapel or Love, Mockingbird, It’s My Party and other songs.
Currently, the choir is auditioning students to join the group. A student must have a song prepared, learn a 4-part song and be able to sing in a quartet. Students must also be comfortable dancing because the group will learn a short dance routine to accompany their vocals.
Susan Orr, choral director and contact for CUT TIME said the show choir is an excellent opportunity to be a part of an exciting group representing the university.
