Finally Fierce performs a dance routine.

Finally Fierce, a new dance group at FMU, took to the dance floor alongside members of Alpha Phi Alpha and the 2Live dance crew from 7-9 p.m. on Nov. 7 at the Smith University Center.

Finally Fierce brings something new to the dance floor with a mix of majorette, hip-hop and cheer.

Malasia Legette, the founder of Finally Fierce, said this is something she is very passionate about.

“I wanted to make one of my biggest dreams come true,” Legette said.

They did a total of three routines where they danced to marching band hits and accompanied it with a performance one may see at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). They also included many areas where each individual dancer had a chance to shine.

“We started planning in the first week of October,” Legette said. “When we were  planning, we decided to go with a concept similar to Beyoncé’s ‘Homecoming.’”

To have a dance team of her own, that puts their health first, has always been a dream of Legette’s, and she made it happen with the support of her friends. Legette continues to set high standards for her dance team as they have a strict workout and health policy built into their contracts.

“We are focusing on our team health as well,” Legette said. “We have set days and plans to workout as a team and continue to put our health first.”

If you are looking for ways to see and support Finally Fierce, you can catch them at other events, such as the bake sale they hosted prior to their showcase. Unfortunately, no baked goods were sold this time.

Although there are no more events for the dance team this semester, you can catch them at halftime during next semester’s basketball games as guest performers.
