According to an Instagram post from Snow Island Review, Francis Marion University’s student literary magazine, the “Tales from the Crypt” event has been canceled due to inclement weather. The event was scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. in front of Founders Hall.
According to ABC15 meteorologist Sydney Madison, tomorrow’s forecast calls for “scattered showers.” Organizers decided it would be best to cancel the event in light of this. Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, and Snow Island Review were the two student organizations who were planned to host the event.
Under normal circumstances, “Tales from the Crypt” would feature an evening of “spooky stories” for students to enjoy while listening and snacking to an assortment provided by the organizers. Sigma Tau Delta President Kaylee Hewitt and Vice President Madison Woodle, who also serves as editor-in-chief of Snow Island Review, advertised the event as a way for students to dress up and socialize, entailing “ghoulish costumes, spooky poetry, scary stories and sinister snacks” for those who wanted to participate. Many expressed disappointment about its cancelation, noting the prominence the event has with students and faculty alike.
“Unfortunately, we are unable to reschedule for this semester,” said Woodle after being contacted for further developments.
Snow Island Review releases a new volume every year featuring creative student work such as short stories, poetry and even photography.
