FMU’s men and women basketball teams will “riot at the rim” against Barber-Scotia College to kick off the 2012-2013 basketball season on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
FMU Athletic Director Murray Hartzler said he always looks forward to the event, and is expecting about 2000 students to be in attendance.
“It’s all about getting involved in the school and getting involved with its alumni, alma mater and town getting involved with the school that’s in their town,” Hartzler said. “And have a good time and enjoy the competition and enjoy the festivities.”
The competition will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the University Center. The women’s team will compete first, followed by the men’s team. Cheerleaders from both teams are set to perform during halftime.
The event is open to the public. FMU students will be admitted to the games free of admission with student ID. Admission is $5 for other students and $8 for adults.
The Riot organization currently has 600 students in its membership. Any current student can become a member. To receive emails, updates and information about upcoming events, sign up in the athletic office.
