We ask that anyone having information about any crimes committed on campus call 661-1109. You don’t need to tell us who you are; just tell us what you know. You can provide your information anonymously through our “Silent Witness” page at on the campus police web site (http://www.fmarion.edu/about/police ). In the past, “Silent Witness” reports have provided leads on cases under investigation. Thanks to those community members concerned with keeping FMU safe and secure. Please be our eyes and ears out there…. We need you to help us to help you.
For the period 01-25-13 through 02-06-13 the following incidents were reported to and/or investigated by Campus Police:
01-25-13
A report of Trespass after Notice and Giving False Information to Police in Snow Island Hall. One non-student jailed and issued a trespass warning.
A Welfare Check report in Beaty Hall. An anonymous caller reported concerns over the well-being of a friend. Referred to Student Affairs after the student was confirmed to be well.
A Fire Response report at the Smith University Center. Parties had ben warming food and the boxes began smoking causing the alarm. No damage and smoke was cleared with fans.

A report of a Verbal Dispute in Parking Lot “G”. A student and a non-student were arguing over a previous incident. The non-student had departed prior to police arrival.
01-28-13
A report of Theft from a Building at Rogers Library. A student had their book bag taken and one book was sold off campus. The book was recovered however the name used by the suspect proved to be bogus.
A report of Damage to Personal Property in Parking Lot “G”. A student reported their vehicle damaged while parked.

A report of Theft from a Motor Vehicle in Parking Lot “A”. A student reported sunglasses taken from her unsecure car.

A report of Assault Intimidation at the Housing Office. One student referred to Student Affairs.

An information report regarding an off campus Traffic Related Incident on Freedom Boulevard. Two parties became involved in a verbal altercation over an incident off campus.
02-02-13
A report of Damage to Off Campus Telephone Company Property on Francis Marion Road. Officers discovered an unidentified vehicle had damaged a telephone company utility pedestal. Reported to the phone company for repair.
02-03-13
A report of Unauthorized Use of or Entry to FMU Facilities at the Performing Art’s Center. One student referred to Student Affairs.
A report of a Simple Assault in the Housing Office Study Hall. Two students met to discuss some issues between them and a third party struck one of the other two. One student jailed for Assault and Battery 3rd degree and six students referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Damage to Personal Property in Parking Lot “H”. A staff member reported their vehicle damaged while parked.
A report of Theft from a Building at McNair Science Facility. The property may have been missing for some time before it was discovered taken.
A repot of Trespassing in Cusac Hall. A non-student had been staying with a student for a period of time. The non-student was issued a trespass notice and escorted from campus.
Campus Police officers responded to three (3) requests for Medical Assistance during this period.
FOUND PROPERTY: FMUPD currently has numerous items that were left unattended or found on campus. If you are missing an item of property and can provide identifying information for your missing property, contact Lt. Ken Pittman at 843-661-1117.
