We ask that anyone having information about any crimes committed on campus call 661-1109. You don’t need to tell us who you are; just tell us what you know. You can provide your information anonymously through our “Silent Witness” page at on the campus police web site (http://www.fmarion.edu/about/police ). In the past, “Silent Witness” reports have provided leads on cases under investigation. Thanks to those community members concerned with keeping FMU safe and secure. For the period 03-07-13 through 04-11-13 the following incidents were reported to and/or investigated by Campus Police:
03-07-13
A report involving a Petty Larceny from an unsecure vehicle. Person(s) unknown removed electronics from a parked car in Parking Lot “F”.
A report involving a Verbal Altercation/Violation of FMU Policy in Belle Isle Hall. The non-student subject was trespassed. The students were referred to Student Affairs.
A report involving a Violation of FMU Policy in Parking Lot “G”. One student referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Simple Possession Marijuana, the arrest of a non-student wanted person and a policy violation in Thigpen Hall. The non-student wanted by off campus law enforcement was jailed along with a student for the Marijuana possession. Eight students referred to Student Affairs.
An Information Only – Traffic Accident report in Parking Lot “G”. A vehicle being pushed rolled into a parked vehicle. The parties elected to settle the damages amongst themselves.
A Fire Response report in Thigpen Hall. A student left popcorn in a microwave and a small fire ensued. One student referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Simple Possession Marijuana on Wallace Woods Road. Officers stopped a vehicle at night for driving without headlights, marijuana was found. One non-student jailed.
A report of a Simple Assault in Palmetto Hall. Two students became involved in a shouting match that escalated to each party striking the other. Two students referred to Student Affairs.

A report of No SC Driver’s License on Patriot Drive. A non-student was stopped for an inoperative headlight and found not to have a valid license. One non-student jailed.
A report of Simple Possession of Marijuana in Marion State Hall. Officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana. The student who claimed the marijuana was jailed. The non-student in the room was issued a trespass notice.

A report of Vandalism to Property in King Hall. A student and non-student became enmeshed in a verbal altercation that lead to the non-student damaging property. The non-student was issued a trespass notice. One student referred to Student Affairs.
03-12-13
A report of suspected Use of Marijuana in Watson Hall. Officers detected the odor of marijuana in the hallway however no actual contraband was discovered. Three students referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Reckless Driving on Patriot Drive. Officers observed a student driving as a high rate of speed. One student issued a State Citation.
A report of Theft from a Building in the University Center. A student left an engagement ring unattended for a few minutes and the ring was taken and referred to Student Affairs.
A repot of Financial Transaction Card Fraud at various off campus locations. A student reported their debit card was used to make off campus web purchases but they still had the card in their possession. The account was closed.
A repot of Theft from a Motor Vehicle in Parking Lot “K” by the Athletics Field House. A student reported an i-Pod taken from their vehicle while other items were undisturbed.

A report of Unauthorized Entry and Civil Dispute in Baxter Apartment. A student entered the room of another and removed property. The ownership of the property was in question. Two students referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Damage to State Property near the University Center. A Custodial vehicle was damaged while driving. Referred to Facilities Management.

A report of Violation of FMU Written Policy/Regulation in Parking Lot “G”. Officers came upon male parked near the Housing Office in the early morning hours who admitted to trying to stay overnight contrary to policy. The non-student was told to leave campus and the student sponsor referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Damage to State Property in Leatherman Science Facility. A classroom door glass was damaged. Referred to Facilities Management for repair.

A report of Open Container, Drunkenness and NO SC Driver’s License on East Palmetto Street. Officers responded to the Shell Station for a report of an individual passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. One non-student jailed.
03-22-13
A report of Simple Possession of Marijuana on East Palmetto Street. A vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign. When the non-student driver was contacted officers discovered marijuana. One non-student jailed.
A report of a Fire Response – False Alarm at Snow Isle Hall. A faulty smoke head caused the alarm. Referred to Facilities Management for repair.

A report of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on Wallace Woods Road in Parking Lot “G”. A non-student was contacted for not having a decal and found to have a handgun on the seat. One non-student jailed.
03-25-13
A report of FMUID/Debit Card Fraud. An unidentified individual attempted to use a student’s IDS card at the Ervin Dining Hall. The car was recovered however the suspect departed the scene before the arrival of officers.
A report of Simple Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in Parking Lot “G”. A commuter student was found illegally parked. When approached officers discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with keys belonging to a resident student. The commuter student was issued state citations and referred to Student Affairs.

A report of campaign flyers being removed from doors in Snow Isle Hall.
A report of Trespass Notices Issued on The Cottage Road. Three non-student issued trespass warnings.

A report of Assault – Intimidation. A student was receiving unwanted text messages from a non-student over an alleged relationship.

A report of Vandalism to Personal Property in Parking Lot “G”. A student reported their car damaged while parked.

A report of Violation of Campus Policy. A non-student was found in possession of the ID and keys for a student. Student referred to Student Affairs.

A report of a Suspicious Vehicle following students onto campus from Florence. The vehicle departed before the report was made.

A repot of Possible Vandalism to Personal Property. Officers discovered a vehicle wrapped in paper with a tree limb on the roof. The owner never came forward with a complaint.
A report of Littering by Ervin Dining Hall. Three non-students distributing flyers for an event in North Carolina. Escorted from campus flyers confiscated.

A report of Illegal Tattooing in Marion State Hall. A non-student was found illegally tattooing another non-student. One non-student jailed.
A report of Harassing Phone Calls/Conduct that Threatens Health and Safety at Stokes Administration Building. A student made up to fifty harassing phone calls to an administrative office. Referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Unauthorized Use of FMU Facilities in Swamp Fox Hall. A former student was discovered remaining on campus after withdrawing from all classes. The former student was removed from campus.
04-05-13
A report of Conduct that Threatens Health and Safety in the breezeway of Swamp Fox Hall. An unidentified subject left an item of clothing burning in the concrete breezeway. The item was extinguished, no damage was caused.
A report of a Verbal Dispute and Welfare Check Request. A boyfriend/girlfriend ended their relationship and the young lady made a comment about injuring herself. The young lady was found in the parking lot and was determined to be well.
A report of a Student/Professor Conflict in CEMC. A professor had a verbal altercation with a student, was dropping the student form class and concerned over how the issue would be taken. No problems were encountered. One student referred to Student Affairs.
A repot of Simple Possession of Marijuana on Wallace Woods Road. A vehicle failed to yield to traffic nearly causing an accident. When stopped the driver was found in possession of marijuana. One student jailed.
A report of Liquor Law Violation and Conduct that Threatens Health/Safety. Officers responded to a call about a potential fight and found three students in possession of open containers of alcohol. The alcohol was poured out and the students referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Liquor Law Violation and Drunkenness at Swamp Fox Hall. A student was involved in a drinking game at an off campus residence and was extremely intoxicated. One student jailed and referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Attempted Theft of a Golf Cart and Damage to State Property on Patriot Drive. A Maintenance golf cart was removed from campus and driven into a ditch off campus.
A report of Liquor Law Violation in Parking Lot “G”. A vehicle was illegally parked in a handicap spot. When the driver was contacted an open container of alcohol was found in the seat pocket. One student referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Disorderly Conduct/Obscene Comments on Wallace Woods Road. Two students became involved in a dispute over a parking space. One student referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Drug Equipment Violation and Misuse of FMU Parking Decal. A vehicle was stopped for a decal issue. The driver was found in possession of drug paraphernalia. One student referred to Student Affairs.

A report of a Verbal Altercation in Parking Lot “C”. A male and female became embroiled in a verbal dispute. Referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Harassing/Obscene Telephone Calls that occurred off campus. The student wanted to make us aware of the incident in the event the non-students came to campus to continue the harassment.
A report of Trespassing involving a non-student who came back onto campus to see their friend. The non-student departed prior to police arrival however the non-student was identified and an arrest warrant was obtained.

A report of Petty Larceny/Recovered Property and Trespass Warning issued at Anderson Apartment. A student had their phone taken by an acquaintance. The acquaintance brought the pilfered property to Campus Police and was issued a trespass warning for Housing. Referred to Student Affairs.
A report of Violation of FMU Policy/Regulation involving several students participating in a water gun/balloon fight in the Housing area. Referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Petty Larceny involving a cellphone. A student reports leaving their cellphone in another person’s room and upon return the phone was gone.
Campus Police officers responded to eight(8) requests for Medical Assistance during this period.
